In this article, we discuss how companies can use AI strategically to increase their value in a future acquisition. This includes using AI to improve margins, accelerate growth, deepen customer relationships, strengthen proprietary data advantages and create capabilities that are difficult for competitors to replicate. We also examine the potential risks, such as excessive reliance on third-party AI providers, limited technical defensibility, data and compliance concerns, unclear ownership of intellectual property and integration challenges. The central question is not simply whether a company uses AI, but whether its AI strategy creates durable, transferable value that a buyer can confidently acquire, integrate and scale.
